  • Noah Whittington: Added to Houston's practice squad

The Texans signed Whittington to their practice squad Monday.

After signing with the Texans in May as an undrafted rookie out of Oregon, Whittington took part in training camp and the preseason, but was unable to secure a spot on the final roster heading into Week 1. Though Whittington will stick around in the organization, Jawhar Jordan will likely rank as the Texans' preferred choice to elevate to the roster if the team's depth in the backfield gets tested at any point.

  • Noah Whittington: Dropped by Houston

The Texans waived Whittington on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Whittington was unable to play in last Friday's preseason finale against the Panthers due to an ankle injury. The running back's persistent issue, which is now resolved, hindered him from being able to compete for a depth role enough that he will be unable to make the 53-man roster. If the 24-year-old can clear waivers, he is set to return to the Texans on the practice squad.

  • Texans' Noah Whittington: Healthy again

Whittington has recovered from the ankle injury that has been hampering him since around Aug. 21, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

With David Montgomery and Woody Marks locked into the first two depth chart spots in Houston's backfield, Whittington is competing with Jawhar Jordan, who is nursing a hip injury, for the third-string spot. Whittington recorded 22 carries for 51 yards during preseason action before suffering the ankle injury, while Jordan hasn't been able to get on the field for any exhibition games. Whittington signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent in May after finishing with 829 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 129 carries at Oregon last season.

  • Texans' Noah Whittington: Dealing with ankle issue

Whittington (ankle) is regarded as day-to-day as of Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Whittington injured his ankle in Thursday night's 22-20 preseason victory over the Raiders. The running back logged nine carries for 11 yards in the contest, adding two kick returns for 44 yards as well. The undrafted free agent out of Oregon will need to recover quickly to continue making his case for a 53-man roster spot.

  • Texans' Noah Whittington: Signs with Houston

The Texans signed Whittington as an undrafted free agent Friday.

Whittington started his collegiate career at Western Kentucky before transferring to Oregon after his second year. The running back played four seasons for the Ducks, capping his college career with 129 carries for 829 yards and six touchdowns while adding 19 receptions for 98 yards and another score over 13 games in 2025. Despite a smaller frame, Whittington could provide solid value to the Texans as a rotational back with a strong reputation for ball security (one fumble in four seasons with Oregon).
