Herbig (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Giants, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Herbig will miss a third straight game due to his lingering hamstring injury. The Steelers will benefit from a bye after Monday's game against New York, meaning Herbig will have extra time to rest before working to retake the field Week 10 on the road at Washington.

Steelers' Nick Herbig: Misses practice Thursday
Herbig (hamstring) did not participate at the Steelers' practice Thursday, Teresa Varley of the team's official website reports.
Herbig was already viewed as unlikely to play in Week 8 versus the Giants and Thursday's absence seems to suggest that he won't be able to go. Steelers' Nick Herbig: Logs two sacks in win
Herbig tallied three tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, and forced a fumble during Pittsburgh's 20-10 win versus the Chargers on Sunday.
Herbig saw increased playing time after Alex Highsmith exited the game with a groin injury and ended up having one of the best outings of his career. If Highsmith ends up being sidelined for an extended period of time, Herbig will likely serve as the team's starting outside linebacker opposite T.J. Watt.
