The Mariners designated Kennedy for assignment Tuesday.
Kennedy is losing his roster spot in order for the Mariners to make room for Rob Refsnyder (knee), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Kennedy played only five games for Seattle, in which he went 1-for-10 with a double, a walk and two runs. Seattle was the 27-year-old's second major-league team of the season after beginning with San Francisco.
