Twins' Walker Jenkins: Being eased into action
Jenkins (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with a run scored Friday in Triple-A St. Paul's 4-2 win over Indianapolis. Jenkins will play only seven innings in games throughout the next week as part of his buildup from a hamstring strain, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
After sustaining a Grade 1 left hamstring strain early in spring training, Jenkins didn't see any Grapefruit League action after Feb. 28 but was able to avoid a stint on St. Paul's injured list to begin the season. Because he missed considerable time in spring training, Jenkins will be eased into action early in the season. Jenkins sat out Saturday and is expected to be limited to playing seven innings in games throughout the next week before being cleared for full nine-inning games beginning April 7, per Dan Hayes of The Athletic.
