The Giants transferred Flores (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Friday. The transaction was a procedural move, as Flores had already been ruled out for the season after undergoing a procedure on his right knee earlier this month. The Giants activated left-hander Ethan Small (oblique) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento. The 33-year-old Flores slashed .206/.277/.318 with four home runs, 26 RBI and 19 runs over 242 plate appearances before being shut down for the season.

Flores (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 season, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Flores underwent a Tenex procedure on his right knee Tuesday and the Giants ruled the infielder out for the remainder of 2024 following the surgery. The 32-year-old's 12th MLB season comes to and end with Flores having contributed four homers, 19 runs and 26 RBI in 242 plate appearances across 71 games. Mark Canha is slated to platoon with LaMonte Wade at first base in the closing two months of the regular season.

Flores will travel to Los Angeles and is scheduled to undergo a Tenex procedure on his right knee Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. The Giants are unlikely to provide a recovery timeline for Flores until the procedure is completed, but the veteran first baseman will likely be shut down from baseball activities for several weeks and could face an uphill battle to make it back from the injured list before the end of the season. Before he was deactivated July 25 with what the Giants had termed as right knee tendinitis, Flores operated largely in the short side of a platoon at first base and slashed .206/.277/.318 with four home runs and 26 RBI over 242 plate appearances. Trade-deadline pickup Mark Canha now looks to be the preferred platoon mate at first base with LaMonte Wade.

The Giants placed Flores on the 10-day injured list Thursday with right knee tendinitis, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Flores just returned from the same injury a little over two weeks ago, but it appears he might not have ever totally recovered from the issue. He'll be eligible for activation in early August, but the Giants might take things slower this time in hopes that Flores can get over the hump with the injury.

Flores landed on the injured list June 28 due to right knee tendinitis, and he's been given the green light to return to the active roster after slightly more than a minimum-length stay on the IL. The 32-year-old has slashed just .206/.282/.317 with 25 RBI in 227 plate appearances, though he'll presumably operate in the short side of a platoon at first base with LaMonte Wade.
