The Mets signed Beavan to a minor-league deal Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. New York is looking anywhere it can for pitching depth considering the health of Noah Syndergaard (lat). Beavan had worked a 3.79 ERA in the Mexican League and last occupied a major-league roster spot in 2014 with the Mariners. His biggest volume of work came in 2012, when he posted a 4.43 ERA, 3.96 K/9 and 1.42 BB/9 in 26 starts for Seattle. The 28-year-old right-hander will wait for a call to the bigs while at Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Mariners moved pitcher Blake Beavan up to Triple-A Tacoma to continue his rehab assignment Friday according to The News Tribune, as he works his way back from right shoulder tendinitis. Beavan, who has been out with the shoulder issue since mid-April, made his rehab debut at Class A Lake Elsinore last week. He will continue his assignment at Tacoma, and will likely make his first start this weekend. Given the extensive layoff, Beavan will likely need the full 30 days allowed for his rehab assignment before he can be activated.
