Altuve was ejected in the ninth inning of Tuesday's game against the Padres after arguing that he fouled a pitch off his foot. Altuve went as far as taking off his shoe and sock in an effort to prove to home-plate umpire Brennan Miller that he hit a foul ball off his foot rather than a grounder in fair territory. However, Miller didn't seem to appreciate being presented with Altuve's bare foot, so the veteran second baseman was immediately tossed from the game. He had gone 1-for-5 with two strikeouts before being ejected.

Altuve went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Padres. Altuve was the only Astro with multiple hits in the contest, and it's the sixth time in nine games he's recorded multiple knocks. The speedy second baseman is up to 22 steals on 29 attempts this year, his most thefts in a season since 2017. He's added a steady .302/.357/.447 slash line with 19 home runs, 63 RBI and 89 runs scored over 145 contests out of the leadoff role.

Altuve went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Angels. Altuve reached on a bunt single to lead off the contest and then stole second before coming around to score on a wild pitch from Tyler Anderson. The second baseman would also add a leadoff single and score for a second time in the fifth, this time on a long ball from Yordan Alvarez. Altuve continues to swing a hot bat and is now batting .378 (17-for-45) in September with five extra-base hits, six RBI and 10 runs scored. Saturday also marked his fifth multi-hit performance this month, while the stolen base was his first since Aug. 28 against the Phillies.

Altuve (side) is starting at second base and batting in the leadoff spot for Friday's game against the Angels. Altuve left in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Athletics due to a side issue. The 34-year-old is back in the lineup after a one-game absence and will return to second base for the series opener. Since Aug. 1, Altuve has slashed .289/.365/.444 with five stolen bases, five home runs and 15 RBI across 159 plate appearances.

Altuve (side) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Altuve was removed from Wednesday's 5-4 loss due to discomfort in his right side. He and the Astros are downplaying the injury and manager Joe Espada said the infielder is "better" Thursday, but it's not a surprise he'll miss at least one game. Mauricio Dubon will handle second base Thursday while Altuve rests.
