Triple-A Syracuse reinstated Crick (calf) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday. Crick spent the majority of the season on the mend from a calf strain, but he recently completed a rehab assignment and reported to Triple-A Syracuse upon his activation. The right-hander worked around a pair of walks to toss a scoreless inning Friday in his first appearance since returning from the IL.

Triple-A Syracuse placed Crick (calf) on its 60-day injured list Monday. Crick was scheduled to attend big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, but he didn't make any Grapefruit League appearances after suffering a calf strain prior to the start of spring training. His placement on the 60-day IL suggests that the Mets aren't counting on Crick contributing for the Triple-A club until late May or early June.

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Monday that Crick could miss all of spring training with a calf strain, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Crick is in Mets camp as a non-roster invitee, but his bid for a roster spot could come to an end before it begins. The veteran reliever didn't pitch anywhere in 2023 after opting out of his minor-league contract with the Rays last spring.

Crick signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Friday and received an invitation to major-league spring training, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Although Crick hasn't pitched in a game since 2022, the Mets will invite him to major-league camp for an opportunity to make their Opening Day bullpen. Crick posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 15.2 innings with the White Sox two years ago, but an elbow injury ended his season early, and he remained a free agent for the entire 2023 campaign.

Crick exercised his opt-out clause in his contract with the Rays, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Crick signed a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Rays in February. That contract included the ability to test free agency if he wasn't added to the 40-man roster by this point, and he's now free to join another club. Crick has had success with other clubs when healthy, but he is likely looking at a similar deal with another team whenever he signs.
