  • Treinen signed a two-year, $22 million contract with the Dodgers on Sunday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Treinen will stick around Los Angeles after producing a 1.93 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 56 strikeouts over 46.2 innings in 50 regular-season appearances with the Dodgers in 2024. The right-hander will likely operate in a late-inning role with the team in 2025, but he isn't a lock to get more than an occasional save chance. Treinen tallied one save and 16 holds for Los Angeles during the 2024 regular season.

  • Treinen (hip) has continued to play catch and will likely be activated from the 15-day injured list when first eligible, per MLB.com. Treinen went on the 15-day IL on Aug. 5, so the earliest he can be activated is Aug. 20. It appears likely that he will indeed return to the Dodgers' bullpen on that day, as his hip issue is not expected to be serious. Upon being activated, Treinen should slot back into a high-leverage role after posting a 2.67 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB over 30.1 innings while recording five wins, a save and nine holds.

  • Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Placed on IL
    By RotoWire

Treinen was moved to the 15-day injured list Monday due to left hip discomfort, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. It's unknown as to when this injury first surfaced for Treinen, but it's significant enough to shut him down for at least the next 15 days. Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Treinen blew a save in Tuesday's loss to the Padres, allowing two runs on two hits while also striking out two over an inning of work. Treinen was given the ball for the ninth inning with the Dodgers up 5-3 and could not convert. He allowed a first-pitch home run to Manny Machado before Jackson Merrill knotted things up with a home run of his own two batters later. Prior to his last two outings, Treinen had not given up an earned run the entire month of July spanning over 10 appearances, but he's now surrendered three runs on three homers over his last two appearances. The Dodgers' bullpen has been a mess in July, with four different pitchers garnering saves, as manager Dave Roberts has yet to figure out a permanent solution for their closer role. Treinen would've been the fifth reliever this month to record a save had he been able to convert. Still, the 35-year-old has posted good numbers overall with a 2.86 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB in 28.1 innings.

  • Treinen earned a hold against Milwaukee on Saturday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work. Treinen entered in the seventh frame and retired the side in order on 11 pitches. The right-hander has given up an earned run in just two of his 23 appearances this season, resulting in a solid 2.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 20.2 innings. Treinen hasn't shown much rust despite missing all of 2023 and most of 2022 due to a shoulder injury.
