Naquin was released by the White Sox on Tuesday. This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Alex Speas, who has been claimed off waivers from the Rangers. Naquin, 32, went 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts during his short stay with the White Sox between Sept. 26 and Oct. 1.

The White Sox selected Naquin's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Naquin is taking the roster spot of Luis Robert (knee) and could see ample time in center field in the final week with Robert done for the season. The veteran outfielder has spent the duration of the 2023 season at the Triple-A level, producing a .725 OPS with nine homers and three steals in 68 games.

Naquin is headed to Chicago to join the White Sox's active roster, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. As Van Schouwen notes, Naquin's addition to the roster would seem to point to a stint on the injured list for Luis Robert (knee). Naquin was acquired from the Brewers in early August and has spent all of the 2023 season at the Triple-A level, posting a .725 OPS with nine homers and three steals in 68 contests.

The White Sox acquired Naquin from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. Naquin has spent all of 2023 at Triple-A Nashville, posting a .766 OPS with six home runs in 40 games. The veteran outfielder will report to Triple-A Charlotte with his new organization but could be an option to join the White Sox at some point during the final two months of the season.

Naquin (shoulder) was activated from Triple-A Nashville's 7-day injured list Tuesday and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in his return to the lineup for the Sounds' 8-3 win over Omaha. Naquin was sidelined for a little over a week due to the bruised shoulder but looked plenty healthy in his return to the lineup. With Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) recently joining Tyrone Taylor (elbow) on the Brewers' 10-day IL and with Triple-A teammate Sal Frelick (thumb) likely out for the next 6-to-8 weeks, Naquin could be next in line for a promotion if Milwaukee needs another outfielder.
