Holmes (fibula) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Saturday. Holmes has been ramping his throwing program up and has been cleared to try things out in a game. The veteran hurler posted a 2.39 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB through 52.2 innings before going down in mid-May with a fractured right fibula. Holmes is a trade candidate and should be able to return to make at least one start before the Aug. 3 deadline.

Holmes (fibula) threw a live batting practice session Friday at Citi Field, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. It's the first time Holmes has faced hitters since he suffered a fractured right fibula back in mid-May. The right-hander could begin a rehab assignment shortly after the All-Star break. He posted a 2.39 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB through 52.2 innings before getting hurt.

Holmes (fibula) might begin a rehab assignment in the second half of July, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The right-hander has been sidelined since May 15 after taking a 111 mph comebacker off his leg. Holmes was having a career-best season as a starting pitcher when he was injured, posting a 2.39 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB through 52.2 innings, and if he can get back on a mound within the next few weeks, he could be an enticing trade target for a contender as a rental -- Holmes has a $12 million player option on his contract he'll almost certainly decline.

Holmes (fibula) has been throwing on flat ground and is expected to progress to mound work next week, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports. The veteran right-hander underwent a follow-up X-ray last week that came back clean, clearing the way for him to ramp up his rehab work while recovering from a fractured right fibula. Holmes will now need some time to build his arm back up and is likely looking at a return in late July or early August.

The Mets transferred Holmes (fibula) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. The right-hander was recently shut down from all activities for 6-to-8 weeks due to a fractured right fibula, so it's hardly a surprise he's been moved to the 60-day IL. Holmes is expected to require about a month to build back up to game readiness once fully recovered, so he'll likely be sidelined until at least mid-August.
