Wisdom signed with the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization on Saturday. The Cubs moved on from Wisdom earlier this offseason, non-tendering him after he slashed .171/.237/.392 with eight homers, 23 RBI and five stolen bases in 75 games. He had slugged at least 20 home runs in each of the three previous seasons, and he'll now head overseas with hopes of re-establishing himself at the plate.

Wisdom was non-tendered by the Cubs on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. Wisdom was designated for assignment Wednesday and will now be a free agent. He was still a solid source of power in 2024, posting a .221 ISO across 174 plate appearances, but that came with a .171 batting average and 33.9 percent strikeout rate.

The Cubs designated Wisdom for assignment Wednesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly-acquired Eli Morgan. Wisdom, 33, fell off to a lowly .171/.237/.392 batting line this season for the Cubs. Rather than pay him a raise in arbitration, the team is removing him from the roster now. Wisdom slugged 76 homers from 2021-23 and still hits the ball very hard when he makes contact, so he should be able to find work with a club that's willing to deal with his strikeout problems.

Wisdom went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Nationals. Wisdom provided all of his team's offense and snapped MacKenzie Gore's no-hit bid in the loss, which eliminated the Cubs from playoff contention. The 33-year-old has mostly served in a reserve role, but with Chicago eliminated, he may see an uptick in playing time during the final few games of the regular season. Wisdom offers some pop, though he is batting only .186 this season and is mostly off the fantasy radar.

Wisdom hit a two-run home run, walked and scored another run in Saturday's 14-2 win against the Marlins. Wisdom entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth, walked and scored a run. Then in the ninth, took infielder Vidal Brujan deep for his first home run since July 28. Wisdom has been an afterthought in the Cubs' lineup the whole second half of the season, as he's started just three of their last 20 games. The 32-year-old has struggled with a .203/.272/.447 slash line through 58 games.
