The Dodgers picked up Muncy's $10 million club option for 2026 on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Keeping Muncy in town was likely an easy decision, as the 35-year-old slashed .243/.376/.470 with 19 homers, 67 RBI and 48 runs scored over 388 regular-season plate appearances. He added three more long balls and scored eight runs during the Dodgers' postseason run, which ended in the team winning its second World Series title in as many years. Muncy is likely to remain Los Angeles' primary third baseman while the club goes for the three-peat in 2026.

Muncy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Saturday in a 5-1 win over the Blue Jays in Game 2 of the World Series. Muncy delivered a big insurance run in the seventh frame with a solo blast to left field two batters after teammate Will Smith broke a 1-1 tie with a solo shot of his own. The homer was Muncy's second hit of the World Series after he went 1-for-4 with a single in Game 1. The third baseman figures to be an every-game presence in the lineup during the series since Toronto is unlikely to deploy any left-handed starters.

Muncy is not in the lineup Thursday for Game 4 of the NLDS against the Phillies, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. It's left-hander Cristopher Sanchez on the bump for the Phillies, so the left-handed-swinging Muncy will begin the contest on the bench. Muncy has entered mid-game the first two times the Dodgers faced a lefty this series, and he's a good bet to do so again in Game 4. Enrique Hernandez will start at third base Thursday.

Muncy is absent from the lineup Monday for Game 2 of the NLDS against the Phillies. With the Phillies sending left-hander Jesus Luzardo to the bump, the left-handed-hitting Muncy will begin the contest on the bench. Miguel Rojas will start at third base and bat seventh for the Dodgers. There's a good chance Muncy will enter Game 2 at some point when/if the Phillies turn to a righty.

Muncy (lower body) will be available for Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series against the Reds on Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Muncy has been trending in the right direction over the last few days after being held out at the end of the regular season due to lower-body soreness, and Ardaya notes that he'll get a few more swings in Monday evening during a live BP session. Assuming he's able to avoid any kind of last-minute setback, expect Muncy to be in the starting nine for Tuesday's matchup.
