Polanco is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. Polanco will be joined on the bench by Josh Rojas, Luke Raley and Cal Raleigh as the Mariners give some regulars a breather in a day game after a night game. Dylan Moore will check in at second base in place of Polanco, who has gone just 5-for-40 (.125 average) at the plate thus far in September.

Polanco went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a win over the Cardinals on Sunday. Polanco got in on the fun of the Mariners' 13-hit barrage with a fifth-inning shot off Steven Matz with Justin Turner aboard, extending Seattle's lead to 9-2 at the time. Polanco snapped a nine-game homer drought with the round tripper, which was also just his second hit in the last eight contests. The 31-year-old notably went down on strikes in his other three plate appearances Sunday, pushing his strikeout rate to a career-worst 30.6 percent and highlighting one of the primary culprits behind his career-low .204 average, .296 OBP and .643 OPS.

Polanco uncorked a 341-foot laser to right field in the second inning to answer a Josh Lowe homer for the Rays in the visitor half of the frame. Polanco's round tripper snapped an eight-game homerless drought, and he's now just four away from putting together his best season in that department since his outlier 33-homer campaign for the Twins in 2021.
