  • Montas (7-11) took the loss Tuesday as the Brewers were downed 5-1 by the Phillies, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10. All the runs came on homers, as Nick Castellanos launched a solo shot in the second inning before Bryce Harper helped chase Montas from the game with a two-run shot in the sixth. It was the first time since the right-hander joined Milwaukee at the trade deadline that he'd served up multiple long balls, but on the bright side he's struck out double-digit batters twice in his last three outings. Over nine starts for the Brewers, Montas sports a 3.55 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 60:20 K:BB in 50.2 innings. He's scheduled to make his next start at home this weekend against the Diamondbacks, but with the Brewers on the verge of clinching the NL Central title, the team could shuffle its rotation over the final days of the regular season to set up its postseason rotation and give pitchers like Montas some extra rest.

  • Montas (7-10) picked up the win over the Giants on Thursday, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless frames while striking out eight. Montas stifled San Francisco's lineup, allowing just two batters to reach second base during his six innings on the mound. The right-hander generated 19 swings and misses en route to posting eight or more strikeouts for only the third time this season. It also marked Montas' second consecutive quality start to open the month, and he now carries a very strong 18:5 K:BB September to go along with a 2.25 ERA.

  • Montas (6-10) took the loss Friday against the Rockies, allowing three runs on two hits over six innings. He struck out 10. Montas pitched well Friday, setting a new season high with 10 strikeouts while holding Colorado scoreless through five innings. However, Michael Toglia's two-out, three-run homer would prove to be enough to stick Montas will the loss in an eventual 3-2 defeat. While it wasn't the finish he would've wanted, it was a positive outing overall for the right-hander, who had allowed eight runs over 12 innings in two starts coming into the contest. The 31-year-old has a 4.69 ERA on the season with a 1.37 WHIP and 120:57 K:BB across 132.1 innings between Milwaukee and Cincinnati. Montas is currently scheduled to face the Giants on the road in his next outing.

The right-hander has compiled a 4.70 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 110:54 K:BB over 126.1 innings across 25 starts between the two teams this year. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Rockies.

  • Montas (6-9) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against Oakland. He struck out seven. Montas was coming off a one-hit, zero-run effort over seven innings in his last start and mowed down the A's the first time through the order Sunday. However, he ran into issues in the fourth, allowing the first five batters to reach base with four of those eventually coming around to score. Montas was not rocked in this start, with all five hits against him being singles. He also collected at least seven punchouts for the fifth time this season. Montas' next start is currently slated to be against his former club, the Reds, in his first game in Cincinnati since joining the Brewers at the trade deadline.
