Graveman (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Saturday marks Graveman's first time throwing off a mound since he underwent surgery on his right shoulder during the offseason. He was only able to throw 10 pitches during his first bullpen session, but it's certainly a positive step toward a potential return late in the season.

Graveman (shoulder) had a positive checkup with his doctor in Dallas on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Graveman has missed the entirety of the 2024 season to this point while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but he's still holding out hope for a late-season return. The 33-year-old is on the cusp of beginning to throw bullpen sessions, which will be a major step towards potentially being activated from the 60-day injured list down the road.

Graveman underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum and clean up his rotator cuff in January and was expected to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign. However, he's been participating in a throwing program and hasn't ruled out a return late in the regular season. Graveman has plenty of steps to complete before reaching that point, however.

Graveman will miss the entire 2024 campaign after undergoing surgery in January to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. His spot on Houston's 40-man roster will be given to Penn Murfee (elbow), who was claimed off waivers from Atlanta on Wednesday.

Graveman is expected to miss the 2024 season after the Astros announced Tuesday that he underwent surgery last week to repair the labrum in his right shoulder. Graveman first developed shoulder soreness toward the end of the 2023 regular season and was held out of postseason action. Discomfort returned after a period of rest and rehab, necessitating the procedure. Graveman, 33, will be entering the final year of his three-year, $24 million contract in 2024 and is set to become a free agent next offseason.
