Bowman cleared waivers after being removed from the Orioles' 40-man roster but has opted for free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The 33-year-old pitched for four different teams at the major-league level in 2024, collecting a 4.40 ERA and 24:13 K:BB over 30.2 frames.

Bowman will start Saturday's game against the Twins, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Bowman will be making the first start of his major-league career Saturday, as the Orioles will lean on their bullpen to get them through Saturday's contest. The 33-year-old righty owns a 4.60 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 29.1 frames in the big leagues this season and will likely be pulled from Saturday's contest after an inning or two.

Bowman (1-0) pitched 1.2 perfect innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Tuesday. He did not record a strikeout. Bowman ended up with the win after Cole Irvin was pulled with one out in the fifth inning. It's been a positive start to Bowman's time with the Orioles -- he hasn't allowed a baserunner over four innings across three appearances. Overall, he has a 4.26 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP and 13:7 K:BB over 19 innings this year with prior stops in Arizona, Seattle and Minnesota.

The Orioles signed Bowman to a minor-league contract Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Bowman will receive a prorated $1 million salary if he gets to the majors, and the deal includes an upward mobility clause on Aug. 22 and an out-out clause on Aug. 28. The righty reliever has pitched for three big-league clubs this season, yielding nine runs with a 10:7 K:BB over 15 innings.

The Twins released Bowman on Monday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Bowman exercised an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract when the Twins informed him they didn't have any immediate plans to promote him. The sinkerballer had turned in eight straight scoreless appearances at Triple-A St. Paul. Bowman has allowed nine runs with a 10:7 K:BB over 15 innings in the majors this season, covering stints with the Twins, Diamondbacks and Mariners.
