  • The Rockies plan to keep Senzatela in a relief role next season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Senzatela was moved from the rotation to the bullpen in late August after posting a 7.15 ERA and 61:42 K:BB over 112 innings. He was better in a long-relief role with a 3.50 ERA and 12:5 K:BB across 18 frames. The Rockies aren't chock full of rotation options, but they appear content to leave Senzatela in a low-leverage role in the final season of his five-year, $50.5 million contract.

  • The Rockies announced Tuesday that Senzatela will work out of the bullpen moving forward, Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com reports. Senzatela has struggled immensely as a starter this season, posting a career-worst 7.15 ERA through 112 innings. Even more alarming is the fact that his ERA jumps up to 7.38 while pitching away from Coors Field. The 30-year-old will now move into a long-relief role in an effort to get him back on track, or at the very least, minimize the amount of damage he's able to give up in a single outing. It's unclear who will take Senzatela's place in the rotation, which is due to come up again Thursday against the Astros.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Bounced by Bucs
    By RotoWire

Senzatela (4-15) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and three walks over four innings as the Rockies were routed 9-0 by the Pirates. He struck out four. The right-hander managed to keep the ball in the park, but that's about the only silver lining from this performance. Senzatela tossed 49 of 86 pitches for strikes and generated only 17 called or swinging strikes as he gave up five or more runs for the third time in his last four trips to the mound. His 15 losses lead the majors, and Senzatela will carry a brutal 7.15 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 61:42 K:BB through 112 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Houston.

  • Senzatela allowed four hits and one walk over five scoreless innings while not factoring into the decision in Sunday's 6-5 win against Arizona. He struck out two. The Colorado right-hander looked solid in his return from a finger injury that had sidelined him since Aug.1. Senzatela threw 61 total pitches, 42 of which were strikes, to notch his first scoreless home outing of the season out of 13 starts. The 30-year-old continued to not miss bats, generating just six whiffs, but did manage to lower his ERA from 7.34 to 7.00 across 108 total innings. Senzatela currently lines up to make his next start at Pittsburgh next weekend.

  • The Rockies reinstated Senzatela (finger) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Diamondbacks at Coors Field. The right-hander landed on the shelf in early August due to a finger blister but is ready to rejoin Colorado after a minimum-length stay on the IL. Senzatela has made 22 appearances (21 starts) this season and has logged a 7.34 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 55:38 K:BB across 103 innings.
