Yarbrough did not allow a runner to reach scoring position during his outing. He gave up four runs over his final 26.1 innings, dropping his season ERA from 3.86 to a career-best 3.19. He threw 98.2 innings in 44 appearances this season with the Dodgers and Blue Jays.

  • Yarbrough came away with a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Rays, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over four relief innings. He struck out five. Taking the mound with one out in the second inning after an impressive stint from opener Ryan Burr, Yarbrough tossed 54 pitches (38 strikes) and held Tampa Bay scoreless, only to watch Zach Pop let his inherited runner cross the plate in the sixth. Yarbrough has a 1.98 ERA, 0.59 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB over 13.2 innings in September across five appearances, but it's not clear if he'll get another scheduled turn as a bulk reliever before the end of the season.

  • Yarbrough is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Ryan Burr in Sunday's game against the Rays, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. The lefty hasn't made a start for Toronto since being acquired at the trade deadline July 30, but he should be ticketed for his third outing as a bulk reliever behind Burr. When Burr previously made one- and two-inning starts Aug. 22 against the Angels and Sept. 9 versus the Mets, respectively, Yarbrough followed him and covered five and 3.2 innings out of the bullpen. Yarbrough will be pitching on three days' rest Sunday after logging two scoreless innings out of the bullpen Wednesday against the Rangers.

  • Yarbrough (5-2) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing three hits and striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in bulk relief. Ryan Burr opened the contest for Toronto and pitched a scoreless first frame. He surrendered a leadoff single in the second and then turned the ball over to Yarbrough, who followed with five scoreless innings during which he allowed just three singles and a hit batsman. The outing was the longest for Yarbrough since joining the Blue Jays via a trade with the Dodgers on July 30 -- before Thursday, he hadn't pitched more than two innings in an appearance for the Blue Jays. The left-hander has been pitching well of late, giving up only one run across his past nine innings spanning three outings.

  • Yarbrough is expected to be deployed as a bulk reliever in Thursday's game versus the Angels, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. Ryan Burr will be the Blue Jays' opening pitcher, but it will be Yarbrough who is likely to cover most of the innings. The left-hander hasn't gone more than two innings in any of his first four appearances with Toronto, but he lasted three-plus innings in eight of his 32 outings earlier this season with the Dodgers.
