  • Castro agreed to a minor-league contract with Houston on Monday, which includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Castro will get an opportunity to earn a spot in the big-league club's bullpen during spring camp after posting a 5.93 ERA and 1.68 WHIP with eight strikeouts over 13.2 innings a season ago in Arizona. He recorded seven saves for the Diamondbacks during the 2023 regular season, though he's primarily been utilized as a setup man during his time in the big leagues.

  • Miguel Castro: Released by Arizona
    By RotoWire

The Diamondbacks released Castro on Wednesday. Castro went unclaimed after Arizona sent him to waivers, and now he's officially a free agent. The veteran reliever missed significant time with a shoulder injury this season and when healthy posted a 5.93 ERA and 8:3 K:BB over 13.2 innings. However, Castro's solid track record should earn him another look somewhere, likely on a minor-league contract.

  • Castro was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Castro appears to be the odd man out in the bullpen after Arizona acquired right-hander Dylan Floro from the Nationals on Tuesday. Castro will now be placed on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he'll either report to Triple-A Reno or elect free agency.

  • The Diamondbacks reinstated Castro (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday. Castro pitched two innings in his final rehab appearance Saturday and gave up no runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout.
