Siri elected free agency Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Siri passed through waivers unclaimed after being DFA'd by the Mets last Wednesday, and he'll now enter the open market to begin the offseason. The 30-year-old missed most of the 2025 season with a fractured left tibia and went just 2-for-32 (.063) in the big leagues when healthy.

Siri (tibia) is expected to report to Single-A St. Lucie on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. Siri has been on the shelf since April 17 due to a fractured left tibia, but he's finally gearing up for a return. With the Mets having acquired Cedric Mullins at the trade deadline to serve as their primary center fielder and with the Tyrone Taylor still available to fill in for Mullins against left-handed pitching, the Mets likely won't be in much of a rush to bring the right-handed-hitting Siri back from the 60-day injured list.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Travis Jankowski, but it doesn't alter Siri's timeline for a return since he has already been on the shelf for more than 60 days.
