• Astros' Brendan Rodgers: Ruled out for season

  Manager Joe Espada said Saturday that Rodgers (back/concussion) won't play again this season, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Rodgers initially landed on the injured list in June due to an oblique strain, but his time on the shelf has since been extended by a concussion, a nasal fracture and, most recently, back inflammation. With slightly more than a week left in the regular season, the 29-year-old will now shift his focus to getting ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. He's also due to become a free agent this winter.

  Rodgers (concussion/nose) was removed from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land due to lumbar spine inflammation, MLB.com reports. Rodgers was originally placed on the injured list June 18 due to an oblique strain, but he appeared to have made a full recovery from that injury, only to be pulled off a rehab assignment shortly after the All-Star break when he sustained a concussion and fractured nose during an on-field collision. He made enough progress from the two injuries to resume a rehab assignment with Sugar Land on Friday, only to succumb to yet another injury. Rodgers is without a timeline to return to action in the minors.

  Rodgers (concussion) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, MLB.com reports. Rodgers has been sidelined since June 18 with an oblique injury, though he's currently working back from a concussion and nasal fracture that he suffered while on a previous rehab assignment. Rodgers is eligible to return from the injured list at any point, and it appears that he is closing in on his activation.

  The Astros announced Monday that Rodgers (concussion/nose) has continued his running, throwing and hitting programs at the team's facility in Florida, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. The team hasn't confirmed that Rodgers has exited concussion protocol, so until that happens, he won't be available to head back out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Rodgers was initially placed on the injured list June 18 due to a left oblique strain, but he's made a full recovery from that injury and is instead working his way back from the concussion as well as a broken nose, which he suffered in a July 18 rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land.

  The Astros announced Monday that Rodgers (concussion/nose) has resumed light jogging and throwing, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Rodgers remains in concussion protocol after he was involved in an on-field collision during a rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land on July 18, but he appears to have taken some steps forward in his recovery from the head injury. The veteran infielder, who also suffered a nasal fracture in the collision, is without a timeline to return from the 60-day injured list. If Rodgers make it back on the field this season, he likely won't be in line for everyday playing time with Houston.
