Allard was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus by the Guardians and elected free agency Thursday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Allard pitched primarily out of the bullpen for the Guardians and was very effective in the role. He maintained a 2.63 ERA and 1.20 WHIP to go along with a 42:14 K:BB across 65 frames, often working multiple innings. Given those results, Allard should be able to land another big-league contract this winter.

Allard didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rockies, allowing one hit and no walks in 3.1 scoreless innings. He struck out five. It was an impressive showing in limited action by Allard, who set a season-high in strikeouts Wednesday. The southpaw held the Rockies to a lone single, and he managed to register seven whiffs despite firing just 42 pitches. Through his first 44.2 innings, Allard has a 2.62 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB. If the Guardians need to throw another bullpen game, Allard's next turn in the rotation lines up for next week in Queens against the Mets.

Allard will start Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Allard has been enjoying a career season in 2025, posting a 2.83 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 41.1 innings in 21 appearances (one start). The 27-year-old southpaw had started in all four of his appearances for Triple-A Columbus prior to being recalled July 9, but since he hasn't covered more than three innings in an appearance since late May, he's unlikely to work deep enough into Wednesday's game to qualify for a win.

Allard re-signed with the Guardians on a minor-league contract Wednesday, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Allard was DFA'd by Cleveland last Thursday and elected free agency after clearing waivers. He's decided to return to the Guardians on a minor-league deal after logging a 2.55 ERA and 16:8 K:BB across 35.1 innings of work with the big-league club this season.
