  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Resting Friday
    By RotoWire

Robles is absent from Friday's lineup against Oakland, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. Robles will rest for the first game of the series after going 3-for-13 with two RBI and five runs scored during the Mariners' previous series against the Astros. Mitch Haniger will start in right field and bat sixth against Athletics southpaw JP Sears.

  • Robles went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs in a win over the Astros on Monday. In what's become a near-daily occurrence, Robles served as a highly effective table-setting presence atop the order, posting his ninth multi-hit effort of September. The veteran early-summer addition has been nothing short of spectacular for the Mariners, posting a .336/.403/.474 slash line over his 75 games in a Seattle uniform and serving as a quintessential leadoff man with his plate discipline (16.9 percent strikeout rate) and speed (28-for-29 in stolen bases).

  • Robles went 1-for-5 with two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers. Robles delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning and stole a base for the third straight game. He was hampered by a hand injury earlier in the week, but he's gone 3-for-9 with three RBI over his last games in which he's logged an at-bat. The speedy outfielder is up to 32 steals on 34 attempts this year while adding four home runs, 25 RBI, 38 runs scored and a .310/.385/.431 slash line over 86 games between the Mariners and the Nationals.

  • Robles entered Saturday's win over the Rangers as a pinch runner in the ninth inning and recorded a stolen base and a run. The oft-injured Robles had the night off for rest, but he was called on to run for Jorge Polanco in the ninth inning after the latter's double. Robles was credited with a steal of third and was able to continue around to home when the Rangers' Walter Pennington uncorked a wild pitch during the sequence. The blistering hot bat of Robles could be back in the lineup Sunday.
