  Guerrero has undergone laser-eye surgery since the end of the regular season. After posting full-season career worsts in 2026 with nine homers, 57 RBI and a .688 OPS, Guerrero elected to undergo corrective eye surgery early in the offseason. It's unclear if the vision issues played a part in his struggles this year, but it certainly wasn't the lone issue given that a lack of power was the major problem. Guerrero entered the campaign with a .207 ISO through seven MLB seasons, but his .096 mark in 2026 was massive drop. Given how early after the season he underwent the procedure, Guerrero should be ready for his typical offseason schedule.

  Guerrero is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. On the heels of an AL pennant run last fall, Guerrero disappointed in a major way in 2026, with his OPS falling 160 points to .688. Recent comments about his performance and contract drew the ire from the Toronto fanbase, but he quickly walked those comments back. Charles McAdoo will draw the start at first base in the season finale.

  Guerrero is not in the starting lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles. The Blue Jays were officially eliminated from postseason contention with a loss in the matinee, and Guerrero will rest for the nightcap. The slugging first baseman, who went 1-for-4 with a double in Game 1, is in danger of finishing the year with an OPS below .700, after closing the 2025 regular season with an .848 mark.

  Guerrero (back) will start at first base and bat second in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles. Guerrero was not included in the initial lineup, but he did some hitting on the field pregame and convinced Blue Jays manager John Schneider that he was ready to play. Vlad Jr. had exited Sunday's contest versus the Rangers and didn't play Monday because of lower-back tightness.

  Guerrero (back) remains out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore. Guerrero has not played since departing Sunday's game against the Rangers with lower-back tightness. He did some hitting pregame Wednesday and could be available to play in the nightcap, per Hazel Mae of Sportsnet. Sean Keys will grab another start at first base for the Blue Jays while Guerrero rests.
