Taveras agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Orioles on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Taveras will head east after spending 2025 with the Rangers and Mariners. The 27-year-old slashed just .205/.226/.304 in the regular season across 180 big-league plate appearances, though he posted a much more respectable .809 OPS in 81 games at Triple-A Tacoma. Now with the Orioles, he is likely to work as a depth piece at Triple-A Norfolk or come off the bench for the big club.

Taveras cleared waivers Friday and was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma. The Mariners booted Taveras from the 40-man roster Monday and he went unclaimed on waivers. The 26-year-old outfielder will look to get back on track with Tacoma after slashing .174/.198/.272 across 98 plate appearances with Seattle. Taveras slashed .241/.259/.342 with the Rangers earlier this season before being waived in early May.

The Mariners designated Taveras for assignment Monday. Taveras was scooped up by the Mariners via waivers in early May after the Rangers had removed him from their 40-man roster. However, he's now been designated for assignment again after putting up a lowly .470 OPS in 28 contests with Seattle. Another team may be willing to dedicate a waiver claim to Taveras, though his $4.75 million salary will likely deter some suitors.
