The Orioles and Mullins avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $8.725 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. It was Mullins' final year of arbitration eligibility. The 30-year-old slashed .234/.305/.405 with 18 home runs and 32 stolen bases across 147 regular-season games in 2024 and is slated to be the Orioles' primary center fielder again in 2025.

Mullins isn't in Baltimore's lineup for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Mullins has logged a base hit in six of his last seven games, but he'll be replaced in center field Saturday by Austin Slater, who will bat ninth.

Mullins went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees. The veteran center fielder tied his season high in knocks, with his last three-hit effort coming back on Sept. 2. Mullins has turned things around over the final month of the regular season, slashing .270/.357/.500 through 20 games in September with five homers, 12 runs, 13 RBI and a perfect 7-for-7 showing on the basepaths.

Mullins went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Tigers. It was Mullins' first homer since Sept. 10. He's hit safely in three straight games but has otherwise displayed a bit of inconsistency in September, batting .258 (17-for-66) with five homers, five stolen bases and 13 RBI over 18 contests. He's at least been able to secure steady playing time in center field, though he was at the bottom of the order Sunday following the returns of Jordan Westburg and Ramon Urias. Mullins has typically hit between sixth and eighth in the lineup this season.

Mullins (neck) is batting second and playing center field Saturday against Detroit. Mullins collided with Austin Slater during Thursday's game and was unavailable for Friday's contest due to neck stiffness. Mullins will rejoin the starting nine Saturday, slotting into his regular spot in center field. He has a .700 OPS and 30 stolen bases this season.
