Mullins signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Rays on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. 2025 marked one of Mullins' worst seasons at the plate in the majors, as he finished the year with a .216/.299/.391 batting line over 498 plate appearances alongside 17 homers, 59 RBI, 58 runs scored and 22 steals. With fellow lefty-hitting outfielders Chandler Simpson, Jake Fraley and Josh Lowe already in Tampa Bay, so Mullins may need to improve upon his 2025 numbers to maintain a regular spot in the lineup.

Mullins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Miami. Mullins continues to bleed playing time to Tyrone Taylor, ceding center field for a second straight game against a right-handed pitcher. Mullins hasn't generated multiple hits in a game since Aug. 23, and he has gone 7-for-57 (.123) at the plate during that stretch.

Mullins is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins. Mullins has been used in a strong-side platoon role in center field, but he's starting to lose playing time. Mullins has now been held out of the starting nine for two of the Mets' last three games against right-handers, and he's started just one of the team's last five contests. Tyrone Taylor will patrol center field Friday. Mullins is slashing .111/.222/.167 in his last 21 games.

Right-hander Cade Horton is toeing the rubber for the Cubs, but the left-handed-hitting Mullins will begin the festivities on the bench. Mullins is slashing just .188/.287/.291 in 40 games since joining the Mets. Brandon Nimmo is getting his first start of the season in center field, while Starling Marte will patrol left field.

Mullins is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Washington. The Nationals haven't formally announced their starting pitcher Friday, but it's expected to be southpaw Andrew Alvarez. Regardless, the lefty-hitting Mullins will take a seat, as Jose Siri roams center field. In his last seven games, Mullins is 5-for-18 (.278).
