The Padres optioned Sullivan to Triple-A El Paso on Friday. Sullivan is the odd man out for San Diego following the return of Xander Bogaerts (shoulder), who was reinstated from the IL on Friday. Sullivan was rarely able to see the field while behind Luis Campusano and Kyle Higashioka on the depth chart at catcher, appearing in just four games since being recalled from the minors June 22. He'll return to being organizational depth at Triple-A.

Sullivan went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in an 11-1 victory over Boston on Saturday. Sullivan got in on another big day for San Diego's offense by smashing a two-run homer to right field in the fifth inning. The 28-year-old was recalled from Triple-A on June 22 to fill in for Luis Campusano, who is on the injured list with a thumb injury. However, Kyle Higashioka has been swinging a hot bat, so Sullivan has made only two starts since the call-up.

The Padres recalled Sullivan from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Sullivan will take the place of Luis Campusano (thumb) on the active roster as Campusano hits the injured list. Sullivan should operate as the primary backup to Kyle Higashioka while Campusano is sidelined.

Sullivan was optioned to Triple-A El Paso by the Padres on Tuesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Sullivan was around as a third catcher for a week but didn't receive any starts. He's being replaced on the roster by Matthew Batten.

Sullivan was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Before being optioned to Triple-A after losing the battle for a backup catcher spot to Kyle Higashioka, Sullivan logged seven hits in 25 spring training at-bats. The catcher has gotten off to a great start in Triple-A this year, slashing .472/.500/.722 in 38 plate appearances. In a corresponding move, Graham Pauley was optioned to Triple-A El Paso.
