Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 9-6 loss to the Mariners. Cronenworth entered Monday cold, having gone just 2-for-20 at the plate over his last nine games. He snapped the dry spell with a multi-hit effort, including his second-inning homer, which was the first time he's left the yard since Aug. 3 versus the Cardinals. The veteran infielder is now at 10 homers, 45 RBI, 47 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .243/.358/.386 slash line over 106 games this season.

The last game the second baseman did not start was July 13, but he still entered off the bench for a plate appearance. With the left-handed bat on the bench Tuesday, Jose Iglesias has the start at second base and is batting eighth.

Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Cardinals. Cronenworth opened the scoring when he took Andre Pallante deep in the fourth inning. This was Cronenworth's first home runsince July 5 versus the Rangers. Over the 23 games between long balls, he hit a mere .227 with a .623 OPS. The infielder has a .235/.344/.388 slash line with nine homers, 34 RBI, 38 runs scored and two stolen bases across 87 contests this season. The Padres were busy at the trade deadline but didn't acquire a middle infielder, so Cronenworth is likely to maintain a starting role at second base, though he made cede some at-bats to Jose Iglesias when the Padres face a left-handed pitcher.

Cronenworth is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. Cronenworth has just three hits in his past 16 at-bats and will head to the bench for the final game of the first half. Barring an appearance off the bench Sunday, the 31-year-old will head into the All-Star break with eight home runs, 29 RBI, 29 runs and a .238/.352/.404 slash line through 269 plate appearances this season.
