The Pirates outrighted Jefferies to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Jefferies has been outrighted previously, so he could elect free agency if he wants. The right-hander ended the season on the 60-day injured list with an elbow injury, but he had been making rehab starts so he should be healthy heading into the offseason.

Jefferies (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Jefferies has been out of commission for nearly two months with right elbow inflammation, so he will probably require multiple rehab appearances. Once the Pirates decide the right-hander is ready, he could be used in long relief.

The Pirates transferred Jefferies (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday. Elbow inflammation forced Jefferies onto the injured list July 6, and his move to the 60-day IL ensures he'll be sidelined until at least Sept. 4. His spot on the 40-man roster will be given to Jalen Beeks, who was acquired in a trade with Colorado on Monday.

The Pirates placed Jefferies (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Jeffries had been pitching in long relief out of the Pirates' bullpen since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on June 17, posting a 6.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 10 innings. With Jeffries bound for the injured list, Pittsburgh recalled right-hander Ryder Ryan from Indianapolis.

Jefferies has been bludgeoned for 13 runs (nine earned) over 4.2 innings covering one start and one relief appearance in the majors this season, both of which came with the Giants. He's headed to the Pittsburgh bullpen, where he will provide length.
