  The Marlins placed Sanchez on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left oblique strain. Sanchez suffered the injury in mid-March.   Manager Clayton McCullough said Saturday that Sanchez (side) will begin the season on the injured list, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. Sanchez was pulled from Thursday's Grapefruit League game due to an issue with his left side in what was initially labeled as a precautionary move. However, the outfielder's injury will ultimately cause him to miss the start of the regular season, and it's currently unclear if he'll be ready to return once eligible April 6. With Sanchez out, Griffin Conine will likely be the next man up to serve as the Marlins' Opening Day right fielder.

  Sanchez was removed from Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros with a possible injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Sanchez went 2-for-3 with a single and double Thursday, but he was removed for a pinch runner after lining a double to left field in the fourth inning. It's unclear if his removal had anything to do with an injury, though the Marlins should offer more information after the game.

  Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals. The outfielder turned on a Mitchell Parker pitch in the fourth inning for his first long ball of the spring. Sanchez dealt with a sore elbow earlier in camp and has struggled to find his timing at the plate, going 3-for-22 (.136) in nine Grapefruit League appearances with a 2:7 BB:K. He's healthy now however, and he could even open the season as the starting center fielder given the Marlins' lack of appealing options at the position.

  Manager Clayton McCullough said Sunday that Sanchez will see the majority of his starts in center field during spring training since he's a known quantity in the corner outfield, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. The 27-year-old saw most of his action in center field during 2022 (and posted plus-two Defensive Runs Saved and minus-two Outs Above Average), but he has made just nine appearances there across the past two seasons. Regardless of whether he ends up in center or right field, Sanchez has a secure spot in the heart of Miami's lineup after he finished 2024 with 18 homers, 16 steals and a .730 OPS.
