The Marlins outrighted Pache to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. Pache passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the 40-man roster and will remain in the organization for the time being. The 25-year-old is a career .181/.243/.275 hitter over parts of five major-league seasons.

The Marlins designated Pache for assignment Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Pache was claimed off waivers in early August but produced just a .518 OPS in 35 games and had been playing sparingly of late. The transaction frees up a spot for Dane Myers' (ankle) return to the active roster.

Pache is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates. With Derek Hill (shoulder) requiring a trip to the injured list, Pache seemed to have settled into a regular role in center field, making four straight starts from Tuesday through Friday. However, Pache now finds himself on the bench for the third straight contest, with all three absences coming against right-handed starters. Pache looks like he may have to settle for the short side of a platoon in center field with either Kyle Stowers or Javier Sanoja.

Pache went 1-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over Atlanta. Getting his first start for Miami in center field and batting seventh against southpaw Max Fried, Pache picked up his first steal of the season. The 25-year-old appears to be on the short side of a platoon with Nick Gordon in center for the Marlins, but Pache's elite defense could allow him to claim more playing time if he can make any kind of contribution with his bat. While Pache's .209/.296/.273 slash line in 125 plate appearances between the Phillies, Orioles and Marlins is poor, Gordon hasn't been much better with a .227/.258/.369 line.

The Marlins claimed Pache off waivers from the Orioles on Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Pache is known for his superb center-field defense but has put up just a .570 OPS through 119 plate appearances this season between the Phillies and Orioles. He could get some run in center field in Miami for a rebuilding Marlins club.
