The Guardians designated Noel for assignment Wednesday. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Justin Bruihl. Noel has slugged 19 home runs across 351 plate appearances at the major-league level, but that's come with a .193/.242/.401 batting line, 32.8 percent strikeout rate and 4.8 percent walk rate. That said, he's just 24 years, and with his power potential, Noel should interest via trade or waivers.

Noel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-1 win over Detroit. Noel turned on a Tarik Skubal changeup in the fourth inning, sending the ball 411 feet into the seats in left field. It was the second homer this week for Big Christmas and third in 12 appearances since being recalled from the minors as part of September roster expansion. Noel is part of a rotation in right field along with C.J. Kayfus and Nolan Jones.

Noel hit a pinch-hit home run in Saturday's 3-1 win over the White Sox. Noel entered as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth inning and blasted his fourth home run, giving the Guardians a two-run cushion. It was his second home run since being called up when rosters expanded at the beginning of the month, and both have come against southpaws. Noel will likely continue to start against left-handers, but he hasn't shown much of a split advantage in 2025. Noel has a .412 OPS against lefties and a .451 OPS against righties.

The Guardians optioned Noel to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Noel came up from Triple-A on Monday with Kyle Manzardo's move to the family medical emergency list, and the former will now head back to the minors following the latter's return. After turning a few heads with his impressive power in 2024, Noel has slashed just .140/.162/.215 with two home runs through 111 plate appearances in the big leagues this year.

The Guardians optioned Noel to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Noel was hitting .104 (5-for-48) with 18 strikeouts in 23 games since the start of May and has now lost his place on the big-league roster. The 23-year-old will likely need to right the ship with Columbus before getting another look with the Guardians this summer. Johnathan Rodriguez was called up in a corresponding move.
