Westburg went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in Friday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees. The Baltimore third baseman tallied his first homer since returning from an ankle injury Sept. 16 with a three-run shot off New York starter Will Warren in the third. This marks the 10th time Westburg has notched three or more hits in a game this season. Overall, the 26-year-old is now slashing .266/.314/.453 with 58 runs scored and 40 RBI over 344 plate appearances.

Westburg is not starting against the Yankees on Sunday. Since being activated off the 10-day IL on Tuesday, Westburg had started five straight games, but he went just 1-for-20 with 10 strikeouts over that span. He'll get a day to reset Sunday while Jeremiah Jackson makes a start at the hot corner.

Westburg wound up missing nearly a month of action with a right ankle sprain but is ready to roll after playing three rehab contests with Triple-A Norfolk. The 26-year-old will retake his third-base job, with Jeremiah Jackson likely reverting to a utility role.

Westburg (ankle) joined the Orioles in Chicago on Monday and will be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Though the Orioles didn't reinstate him prior to Monday's series opener in Chicago, Westburg is likely just getting a day to rest after he went 2-for-5 with two home runs in his final rehab game for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. Assuming that the Orioles' medical staff is satisfied with the condition on his right ankle, Westburg will likely rejoin the lineup Tuesday. Westburg will presumably take over as the Orioles' everyday third baseman, resulting in Jeremiah Jackson moving into more of a utility role.

Westburg (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. It will be Westburg's first game action since he sprained his right ankle Aug. 18. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to return to the Orioles' active roster sometime next week. Emmanuel Rivera has been filling in at third base of late for the O's with Westburg sidelined.
