The Giants re-signed Teng to a minor-league contract Nov. 29. After being non-tendered last month, the right-hander has returned to the organization on a minor-league pact. Teng, 26, spent most of the 2024 season at Triple-A Sacramento, where he put up an 8.60 ERA and 1.81 WHIP over 75.1 innings.

The Giants non-tendered Teng on Friday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Teng was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday, and the 25-year-old will now enter free agency. Teng spent most of the 2024 campaign with Triple-A Sacramento, where he struggled to an 8.60 ERA and 1.81 WHIP over 75.1 innings. He did manage to make his major-league debut in late March, and across four big-league outings he gave up 12 earned runs over 11 innings.

Teng was designated for assignment by San Francisco on Tuesday. Teng spent the majority of the 2024 campaign with Triple-A Sacramento, producing an inflated 8.60 ERA and 1.81 WHIP with 61 strikeouts over 75.1 innings in 23 appearances, including 13 starts. Additionally, the right-hander gave up 12 earned runs over 11 innings in four appearances with the Giants last year. He'll now be placed on waivers and if he goes unclaimed, he'll likely remain with Triple-A Sacramento ahead of the 2025 season.

Teng (undisclosed) has struck out five and has given up three earned runs on five hits and one walk over 6.2 innings over two appearances for Triple-A Sacramento since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list July 28. Teng had been on the shelf for three weeks before he made his return to Sacramento. The 25-year-old righty made four appearances out of the San Francisco bullpen earlier this season but is likely to serve as a swingman for Sacramento for the foreseeable future. He holds an 8.66 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 44.2 innings for the Triple-A club in 2024.

Teng was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The move corresponds with the Giants removing Sean Hjelle (elbow) from the 15-day IL. Teng has struggled in his first season in the majors, allowing 12 earned runs on 15 hits and eight walks over 11 innings. The right-hander will look to get his command back with Sacramento, where he posted a 4.22 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 79 innings in 2023.
