  • Reds' Spencer Steer: Continues to mash
    By RotoWire

Steer went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Cubs. Whatever Steer did to overcome the neck spasms that forced him out the starting lineup for three games early this week seems to have worked. He's bashed four home runs over four contests since his return while driving in 10 runs. The Reds have won all four and sit one game out of the final wild-card spot in the NL. Steer is up to 21 home runs and 74 RBI over 139 games.

  • Steer went 2-for-3 with a walk, two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 7-4 win over the Cubs. For the second time in three games, Steer powered the Reds to a victory. On Friday, he hit a solo homer in the fourth inning, and then his two-run shot in the seventh was the go-ahead knock. This outburst came two days after he homered and knocked in five in Wednesday's win over St. Louis. All of this followed a stretch in which Steer missed time due to spasms in his neck.

  • Reds manager Terry Francona said Tuesday that Steer (neck) "feels great" after getting a chiropractic adjustment, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Steer was scratched from Monday's lineup in St. Louis due to neck spasms and remains out of the lineup Tuesday, but it sounds like he could be available off the bench. Sal Stewart is receiving a fourth straight start at first base Tuesday.

  • Steer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics. On the bench for the fourth time in five games, Steer appears to have faded into a bench role while the Reds have opened up more opportunities for rookie Sal Stewart, who has produced a .714 OPS since getting called up from Triple-A Louisville on Sept. 1. Over that same two-week stretch, Steer has matched Stewart with a .714 OPS, so Steer could be just one Stewart cold streak away from regaining playing time.

  • Reds' Spencer Steer: Picks up steal in loss
    By RotoWire

Steer went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Athletics. Steer has seen his playing time drop recently, with this being just his second start in the last five games, all against right-handed pitchers. Top prospect Sal Stewart has pushed Steer for playing time at first base rather than challenging Matt McLain at second. Steer has gone 5-for-18 (.278) over seven games in September, but it'll be tough for him to produce without a steady role in the lineup. For the season, the 27-year-old has a .237/.308/.396 slash line with 17 home runs, 64 RBI, 61 runs scored and seven steals over 134 games.
