Mead is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays. Mead had started in each of Chicago's previous 12 games, but he'll hit the bench while the White Sox welcome Miguel Vargas (wrist) back from the injured list. Given that he slashed a middling .255/.300/.362 over that 12-game stretch, Mead may not have made a compelling enough of a case for the White Sox to continue giving him everyday at-bats in the corner infield ahead of Mead and Lenyn Sosa. The right-handed-hitting Mead will likely continue to play regularly against left-handed pitching, however.

Mead went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI on Thursday against the Twins. Mead has started eight straight games and 10 of the last 11 contests while playing exclusively at third base. In that 11-game span, he's gone 13-for-44 (.295) with three RBI, seven runs scored and five doubles. Mead also has a seven-game hitting streak and should continue to see regular at-bats at least until Miguel Vargas (wrist) rejoins the lineup.

Mead will start at third base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Yankees. Mead will be making his fourth consecutive start after going 2-for-11 with a double and two runs over the previous three contests. The 24-year-old should be in line for a near-everyday role at the hot corner while Miguel Vargas (hand) is on the injured list.

Mead is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals. After bouncing between the corner infield spots over nine straight games and going 9-for-31 (.290) with one stolen base, five RBI and two runs, Mead will get a second straight contest off. The White Sox will go with Lenyn Sosa at first base and Miguel Vargas at the hot corner as they look to avoid a series sweep.

Mead isn't starting against the Royals on Saturday. Mead has been a regular at third base since getting called up from Triple-A on Aug. 3, and he's held his own with a .281/.361/.281 slash line -- albeit with no extra-base hits -- along with five RBI and a stolen base over 10 games as a member of the White Sox. He's getting a breather Saturday, though, as Miguel Vargas is starting at the hot corner and Lenyn Sosa is sliding over to first base.
