  • Yepez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. It's the second straight absence and third in four games for Yepez, with his only start during that stretch coming against a left-handed starter. Joey Gallo is starting at first base while Andres Chaparro serves as the designated hitter Wednesday against Miami righty Valente Bellozo, as it appears Yepez has fallen into the short side of a platoon, at least for the time being.

  • Yepez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. It's the second time on the bench in Washington's past three games for Yepez, who has gone 7-for-23 with two homers over his past seven contests. Andres Chaparro will shift to designated hitter while Joey Gallo starts at first base against Miami righty Max Meyer.

  • Yepez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday against the Rockies. Yepez's eighth-inning blast drove in three and put the game on ice for the Nationals. It was the fourth homer of the season for Yepez, who broke a 2-for-29 spell when he sent the Peter Lambert sweeper over the center field fence. Yepez now holds a .278 average with 16 extra-base hits, 20 RBI, 20 runs and two steals across 151 at-bats.
