  • Quero (back) was activated at Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday after missing a month, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. On Aug. 17, Quero was placed on the he 7-day injured list after injuring his back. It was thought that he was due to make his MLB debut in September prior to the injury, but those chances are slim with the White Sox having just nine games left for the 2024 season.

  • Quero has been on the 7-day injured list since Aug. 17 due to a back injury, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. The club has yet to reveal a timetable for Quero's return, and Paul Janish, Director of Player Development, stated Monday that the backstop will likely remain out a bit longer, per Fegan. "At this juncture of the season, we just need to make sure that he's completely healthy," said Janish. Quero was being considered for a September promotion prior to suffering the injury, and his current placement on the IL could prevent him from making his big-league debut if he's not activated in the near future.

  • Quero was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, MLB.com reports. Quero maintained an .823 OPS with 12 home runs and 53 RBI across 292 plate appearances with Double-A Birmingham. It would be a surprise to see him reach the majors in 2024, though a debut early in 2025 is certainly realistic.

    By RotoWire

The White Sox acquired Quero along with left-hander Ky Bush from the Angels on Wednesday in exchange for right-handers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. After putting up a .970 OPS in Single-A in 2022, Quero was pushed to Double-A to begin 2023 and is slashing .245/.385/.332 with 35 RBI across 317 plate appearances. The 20-year-old backstop will likely remain in Double-A as he transitions to his new organization, though he remains on his way to contribute in the majors within a few years.

  • Quero has been a league-average hitter (100 wRC+) while slashing .240/.378/.322 with two home runs in 63 games for Double-A Rocket City. Quero has displayed stellar plate skills (16.5 BB%, 17.5 K%) as the third-youngest qualified hitter at Double-A, but he hasn't hit for much impact (0.82 ISO, 23.0 percent hard-contact rate). He was pushed very aggressively over High-A this season, so Quero's performance thus far should not be seen as a disappointment.
