Clase isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins. After going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during Friday's game, Clase will get a day off Saturday while Joey Loperfido starts in center field and bats ninth.

Clase went 3-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Red Sox. The 22-year-old ripped his first career homer in the seventh inning off Josh Winckowski by lofting a cutter over the fence in right field. Clase has looked good in his September cup of coffee with the Blue Jays, going 6-for-12, and he figures to head into spring training next year with a chance to win a regular spot in the outfield.

The Blue Jays optioned Clase to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday. He was acquired by Toronto on Friday as part of the package for Yimi Garcia, and the 22-year-old Clase will now return to Triple-A to begin his tenure with the Blue Jays organization. He has slashed .274/.373/.483 with 10 homers and 34 RBI through 280 plate appearances in the minors this season and could earn a spot in Toronto's outfield later in the year, especially if the Jays finally part ways with Kevin Kiermaier. Zach Pop was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Clase went 1-for-4 with a run in a win over the Angels on Thursday. Clase didn't appear in Wednesday's series finale against the Padres after being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day, but he logged his first big-league plate appearances since May 27 in a lopsided victory Thursday. Promoted to help fill in while Dominic Canzone (groin) is on the injured list, Clase is looking to narrow the gulf between his performance at Triple-A and the big-league level after producing just a .176 batting average and .406 OPS in his first 15 games with Seattle earlier this season.

The Mariners optioned Clase to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. Clase's most recent stint in the big leagues lasted 10 days, but he made just three starts over that span and hadn't received a plate appearance in nearly a week. The 22-year-old will go back to receiving regular reps at Tacoma.
