  • Blue Jays' Tommy Nance: Added to roster
    By RotoWire

The Blue Jays selected Nance's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Nance was just acquired from the Padres for cash considerations Wednesday and a day later has been added to the major-league roster. The 33-year-old had been at Triple-A El Paso all season, posting a 4.05 ERA and 35:8 K:BB over 33.1 innings. Nance -- who last appeared in the majors during 2022 -- could be sent back down once Genesis Cabrera returns from paternity leave.

  • Padres' Tommy Nance: Moves to minors camp
    By RotoWire

The Padres reassigned Nance to minor-league camp Saturday. Nance signed with the Padres as a non-roster invitee in the offseason and had been competing for a spot in San Diego's bullpen, but he will end up missing the cut. Nance hasn't pitched in the majors since 2022 and logged a 1.29 ERA in the minors last season while working his way back from a shoulder injury.

  • Nance (shoulder) is scheduled to make his fourth appearance of the Cactus League in Sunday's game against the Mariners, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Through three outings, Nance -- who is attending camp as a non-roster invitee -- has struck out a batter while giving up one earned run on two hits and no walks over three innings. Nance finished the 2023 season on the Marlins' 60-day injured list after developing a shoulder issue in September, but he looks like he'll enter the 2024 campaign with a clean bill of health. The right-hander is competing for a spot in the Padres' Opening Day bullpen but is more likely to begin the season at Triple-A El Paso.

  • Nance (shoulder) signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Dec. 10. Nance elected to become a free agent after being outrighted off Miami's 40-man roster last month. The 32-year-old right-hander missed the majority of the 2023 season due to shoulder issues, but he should be ready for the start of spring training. He had a 4.33 ERA and 57:21 K:BB in 43.2 innings with the Marlins in 2022.
