  • Quijada allowed one walk in a scoreless inning Wednesday versus Seattle. Quijada's outing was his first in the big leagues since he underwent Tommy John surgery in May of 2023. The left-hander struggled a bit with his control in throwing just nine of 17 pitches for strikes, but he faced the minimum three batters, as a leadoff walk was wiped out on a double play. Quijada pitched in the sixth inning Wednesday, though he could eventually work his way up to higher-leverage work if he's able to string together a series of effective outings.

  • The Angels activated Quijada (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Monday. Quijada has completed the long road back from May 2023 Tommy John surgery. The left-hander allowed two runs with a 13:4 K:BB over 7.2 innings covering nine rehab appearances. The Angels are likely to deploy him in middle relief.

  • Quijada (elbow) had his minor-league rehab assignment moved from the Arizona Complex League to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, per MLB.com. Quijada logged five outings while with the organization's ACL club, allowing two runs on four hits while notching an 11:0 K:BB over 4.2 innings. In his first outing with Salt Lake on Wednesday, he walked two batters but didn't allow a run while recording two outs (one by strikeout). Quijada could be ready to return to the big-league club shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Quijada (elbow) struck out the side in his first rehab appearance with the Angels' Arizona Complex League affiliate Wednesday. It's a promising start as Quijada continues down the comeback trail from last May's Tommy John surgery. The left-hander will eventually move up to a higher affiliate and figures to need most, if not all, of the 30-day allotment for his rehab assignment.

  • Quijada (elbow) threw to hitters in a live bullpen session Tuesday and tossed a live batting practice session Friday, MLB.com reports. Since taking a pre-planned break from throwing for a week between late May and early June, Quijada has tossed a 25-pitch standard bullpen session along with the pair of sessions against live hitters. He's now nearly 13 months removed from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last season and appears to be doing well in his recovery. If Quijada continues to progress without any setbacks, he could rejoin the Angels bullpen before the All-Star break.
