Rodriguez will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's ALCS Game 5 versus the Blue Jays. The Mariners tweaked their lineup in Game 4 and are shaking it up further for Game 5 after the Blue Jays evened the series Thursday. It's the first time since late July that Rodriguez has batted leadoff for Seattle. Randy Arozarena -- who had batted leadoff in every one of his starts since July 31 -- has been bumped down to the No. 5 spot.

Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Tigers in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. The superstar outfielder gave the Mariners the lead on a solo homer in the fourth inning and tied the game with an RBI single in the sixth. He added another single in the 11th, but it ultimately wasn't enough, as aside from Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh, no other Mariners player recorded a hit. Rodriguez should be back in the three hole against lefty Tarik Skubal on Sunday as Seattle attempts to even the series.

Rodriguez powered Seattle's offense with his 29th and 30th long balls of the year, marking his third multi-homer game of the season and his fifth home run in the last seven contests. During that stretch, the 24-year-old has gone 9-for-29 (.310) with 12 RBI and six runs scored. On the season, Rodriguez is up to a .265/.317/.475 slash line with 86 RBI, 93 runs, 24 doubles and 24 stolen bases across 628 plate appearances.
