  • Santos (biceps) fired two-thirds scoreless innings in Triple-A Tacoma's loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday, issuing two walks and recording a strikeout. Santos made his second rehab appearance in three days for the Rainiers and bounced back from having allowed a run over two-thirds of an inning in Friday's outing. The right-hander threw another 18 pitches Sunday, although only seven landed for strikes. Santos has exhibited control issues in each of his last two appearances, but from a workload standpoint, he certainly seems to be ready for activation.

  • Santos (biceps) fired a scoreless sixth inning in Triple-A Tacoma's extra-inning loss to Oklahoma City on Tuesday, allowing two walks and recording a strikeout. The right-hander threw 21 pitches overall in a laborious inning, but the silver lining to his control issues was the fact his arm got a good test. Santos has now made two appearances with the Rainiers of an inning apiece, and the Mariners may determine he only needs another turn or two before being deemed ready for activation.

  • Santos (biceps) started his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma against Albuquerque on Friday, firing a scoreless eighth inning during which he allowed a hit and a walk. Santos got some good work in during his first game action since July 31, throwing 15 pitches during his one frame. The right-hander may need only a couple more setback-free outings before being deemed ready for activation and potentially assisting the Mariners' bullpen down the final stretch of the regular season.

  • Santos (biceps) has begun throwing at the Mariners' extended spring training in Arizona but remains without a timetable for return, MLB.com reports. Mariners general manager Justin Hollander noted Monday that the team's medical staff doesn't believe there's a kinetic chain issue with Santos after he also missed over three months earlier this season with a right latissimus dorsi strain. However, whether Santos can return before the end of the season remains an open question, and given his checkered medical history the last few months, the team may opt to play it safe.
