Diaz went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI single during the Astros' 6-2 win over the Angels on Sunday. Diaz got Sunday's scoring started with an RBI single in the first inning before giving the Astros a 2-1 lead with a solo shot in the fifth. His long shot was his 20th of the season, and he has reached the 20-homer mark in two of the last three years. With the Astros eliminated from playoff contention, Diaz will end the year with a .256/.284/.417 slash line with one steal, 56 runs, 25 doubles and 70 RBI over 567 plate appearances.

Diaz isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Diaz will sit down for Thursday's series finale after going 1-for-7 with two strikeouts over the first two games. Victor Caratini will replace him behind the plate and bat fourth.

Diaz went 1-for-3 with two RBI on Wednesday against the Rangers. Diaz delivered a two-run single in the first inning to start the scoring for Houston. He's been excellent at the plate in his last 10 games, hitting .351 with one home run, 12 RBI and four runs scored.

Diaz went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored during Houston's 6-2 win over Atlanta on Saturday. Diaz gave the Astros a four-run lead in the third inning, when he grounded into a fielder's choice that brought Carlos Correa home. Saturday marked Diaz's eighth three-hit game of the season, two of which have come over his last four contests. He has gone 13-for-40 (.325) with five doubles, five runs scored, one home run and nine RBI in 11 games since Sept. 1.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta. Diaz will take a seat Friday after making five consecutive starts behind the plate, allowing Victor Caratini to catch. Diaz has logged multiple hits in three of his last five games.
