  • Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Hit hard in loss
    By RotoWire

Cantillo (2-4) took the loss Friday against Houston, pitching 3.2 innings while allowing three runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out seven. The Cleveland southpaw entered this contest on a hot streak, posting a 1.10 ERA across 16.1 innings in September, but he struggled in this 93-pitch outing. Cantillo got a taste of what the playoffs could look like as the Astros laced three doubles off him out of their six total base knocks. The 24-year-old did manage to salvage his outing slightly by notching six or more punchouts for the fourth consecutive start. Cantillo wraps up his rookie campaign with a 4.89 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB across 38.1 innings.

  • Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Sent down
    By RotoWire

Cantillo was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. Cantillo's demotion was expected after he served as the 27th man in Monday's doubleheader versus the Royals. He's pitched to a 7.71 ERA over 18.2 innings in the majors this year. With an off day Thursday, the Guardians may be able to get by with a four-man rotation until Alex Cobb (fingernail) is ready to return, which means Cantillo could be staying at Triple-A for a while.
