  • Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rangers. Rodriguez made his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday, and he gave the Guardians an early lift with his opposite-field, two-run homer in the first inning. He later walked in the ninth as part of the rally that led to a walk-off win, clinching a playoff spot for Cleveland. The Guardians can still claim the AL Central title Sunday with a win or a Detroit loss.

  • The Guardians recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. Rodriguez takes the roster spot of David Fry, who was placed on the 10-day IL after sustaining facial fractures in Tuesday's win over the Tigers. Rodriguez has appeared in 28 games for Cleveland this season, slashing .167/.214/.303 with one home run, six RBI, five runs scored and a 4:22 BB:K across 70 trips to the plate.

  • Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles. Rodriguez went 2-for-12 with a solo home run, a walk and a double while starting in each of the Guardians' previous four contests, but he'll hit the bench Monday as Steven Kwan (wrist) makes his return to the lineup following a three-game absence to begin the second half. So long as Kwan remains healthy, Rodriguez looks like he'll be limited to the short side of a platoon in right field with Nolan Jones.

  • Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Houston. The 25-year-old righty-hitting outfielder drew the start versus southpaw Brandon Walter and delivered his first multi-RBI game of the season. With Lane Thomas (foot) on the injured list, the Guardians do have some extra reps to fill in the outfield for the time being. That said, Rodriguez has plenty of work to do if he wants to earn more playing time -- he's slashing a pitiful .152/.204/.239 with three home runs, two doubles, one triple and three RBI over 49 plate appearances.

  • Rodriguez started in right field and went 0-for-3 in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Athletics. Rodriguez was called up earlier this month for a second stint in the majors, with the Guardians hoping that he could solve the season-long production issues in right field. He's been unable to fulfill the organization's hope, batting .160 (4-for-25) with a .472 OPS across 26 plate appearances.
