Sosa went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-4 win over the Angels. Sosa has been excellent in September, going 18-for-46 (.391) over 12 contests. His homer Monday was his first long ball since July 4, giving him five on the year as he continues to struggle to find power. The infielder has added 26 RBI, 20 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .242/.269/.325 slash line over 329 plate appearances.

Sosa went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Guardians. Sosa played his part in a four-run rally in the third inning with an RBI single before also coming around to score. The performance extended his hitting streak to seven games, during which Sosa has hit .407 with two doubles, four runs scored and three RBI. He should get regular run at second base so long as Brooks Baldwin (wrist) is sidelined.

Sosa is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets. After making 12 consecutive starts (eight at second base, four at third base), Sosa will take a seat Friday. Nicky Lopez will handle the keystone while Miguel Vargas plays third base.

Sosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. Sosa had batted first or second in each of the past three games, but he failed to provide a spark near the top of the lineup, going 1-for-12 at the plate. Though the White Sox probably aren't ready to pull the plug on Sosa as a near-everyday player just yet, the 24-year-old will head to the bench in the series finale nonetheless.

The White Sox optioned Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Sosa had a stretch recently with five straight multi-hit games, but he finished the first half going just 2-for-22 across his last six contests and has managed just a .624 OPS on the season. Nick Senzel will take Sosa's spot on the roster and could also replace him as the White Sox's everyday third baseman.
