Lopez isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays. Although Lopez has gone 8-for-18 and scored five runs during his five-game hitting streak, the Marlins will sit him down Saturday while Javier Sanoja picks up a start at the keystone.

Lopez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta. Lopez will hit the bench for the first time since Aug. 3, with his move to the bench coming after he saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 showing in Saturday's 6-2 loss. Vidal Brujan will fill in for Lopez at the keystone.

Lopez went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Rockies. The Marlins took advantage of their last game in Coors Field for the season with an 18-hit, 12-run barrage, and Lopez carved out his share of the production. The 25-year-old infielder has hit safely in five straight games and 12 of the last 13, slashing .362/.444/.532 over the latter stretch with six doubles, a triple, two steals, five runs and seven RBI.

Lopez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays. Though he's checking out of the lineup after starting both of the past two games, Lopez's short-term playing-time outlook has been aided by the Marlins' decision to demote trade-deadline pickup Connor Norby to Triple-A Jacksonville following his acquisition from the Orioles. Norby looked like a candidate to serve as Miami's everyday second baseman and should get the opportunity to do so later on this season, but for now, Lopez will likely remain the main option at the position.
